Location

Foundation
Cairo
was founded by the Fatimid caliphs as a royal enclosure. It replaced Fustat as the
seat of the government. It later came under the Mamluks, was ruled by the Ottomans
1517 to 1798, and briefly occupied by Napoleon. Muhammad Ali of Egypt made Cairo
the capital of his independent empire from 1805 to 1882, after which the British
took control of it until Egypt attained independence in 1922.
Cairo, Egypt, the Triumphant City,It is one of the world's largest urban areas and
offers many sites to see. It is the administrative capital of Egypt and, close by,
is almost every Egypt Pyramid, such as the Great Pyramids of Giza on the very edge
of the city. But there are also ancient temples, tombs, Christian churches, magnificent
Muslim monuments, and of course, the Egyptian Antiquities Museum all either within
or nearby the city.
Education
Cairo
has long been the hub of education and educational services not only for Egypt but
also for the whole Arab world. Today, Cairo is the center for many government offices
governing the Egyptian educational system, has the largest number of educational
schools, and higher learning institutes among other cities and governorates of Egypt.
Language
Arabic with an Egyptian dialect, though a significant percentage of the educated
population are capable in English, French and/or Italian
